Beep, Beep

I'm going to toot my horn right now because I feel like a quasi celeb! I was thrilled that Katie from Matchbook Magazine (also of Neo-Trad fame) emailed me requesting a photo from our wedding along with some info for Matchbook's "Just Married" section. Luckily we had just gotten the images from Leo so I was able to send along a little something. A couple of days later the issue went live and there we are! Kind of weird (in a good way), but totally fun. Matchbook has really evolved in the 6+ months that it's been around and it makes me happy to see them doing well - a strong fan base, incredible branding and fun content. It took a little longer than I thought (he shoots exclusively with film, and develops all of the images himself) but it was totally worth the wait. It's funny - I really don't like posing for pictures (or being "serious" because I don't think I'm much of a serious person), but somehow he made me look quite good that day! Deb's Insane Silver Collection

We used more than 30 (I think?) pieces of silver from my mom's incredible collection on the 3 long tables at the wedding reception. It was so special to use something "real" and not rented or bought just for the occasion. I think they really added a nice touch to the tablescapes! I've had my eye on several of these little bowls, dishes, vases and pitches for a looooong time ...

My Bouquet

Our amazing florist, Kevin, just sent me a couple of pictures that he took the day of the wedding. Can I have my bouquet back? I guess photos will have to suffice ... I couldn't get over how beautiful it was when he brought it by the house that morning! The stephanotis, the mini succulents, the cabbage roses... le sigh! Mere and Katie's were incredible as well. Can't wait to get those pictures (ahem, Mom!) too ... Weee!

Back from Hiatus !!!

Get ready for my grand return to the world of quasi-interesting blogging. Hooray!!

The wedding was amazing. Perfection and so much fun. I can't wait to post the pictures - Unfortunately we are going to have to wait a little while longer for the professional shots by Leo Patrone (here is the link to his blog for eye candy of other people's weddings), but we do have some amateur snaps from friends and family.

Will also be doing a redux of our honeymoon. I had the most wonderful time, really. Our favorite spot by far was Portugal - Lisbon & the Algarve. I can't wait to post those pictures !!!!!!

Guess I should have told you

That I'd be on a big blogging hiatus ...

I have been home in DC for almost 2 weeks and have been so busy I haven't really had time or desire to blog. Now Jose is here and the business has boomed exponentially.

Plus I've just been really blah the past few days. We got some really awful, awful news and I'm just trying to make sense of it all. I'm so sad and so angry and so upset I just don't feel much like celebrating.

I'm just so thankful that the wedding isn't this weekend. I need some more time to heal and to get back in the "happy" mindset.

Now I just wish the sun would come out for once so I can relax for the first time this week and read in the sunshine.

In just 7 days Jose and I are getting married. Woweeee!! I must say I couldn't be more excited about that.

Tum ti tum

Today was rather productive. It's really been a nice weekend, although you know when you feel that pressure of "ok, I have 2 days until ____ (usually leaving on a trip, moving away, whatever) so I have to do 1,000 cool things/see everyone I know/be fabulous/look good while doing it" seems to pop up? Well, yeah. It's Sunday evening and I guess I hadn't planned on being so mired down in practical errands these days. Definitely for the best though - last weekend was more than enough fun and I want to get some rest in while I can before the crazystorm of weddingland hits. Yay!!!

I'm going to be gone for a whopping 6 weeks, folks. Yep! Kind of nuts. Maybe it's 5 but I think it's 6. Doesn't really matter. Try packing for that!! I'm the worst packer ever, consistently referencing George Costanza as my doppleganger (dressing according to mood/bringing 3 bags for a weekend trip). But the last thing I want is to be schlepping around 100lbs of luggage across Europe, cursing my lack of foresight (I plan on doing some shopping as part of furthering my cultural education).

Somehow I managed to select some key pieces from my wardrobe without just pulling everything off the shelves and hangers as I'm prone to do. Hooray! I think I'll be great. The hardest part for me is the shoe element, though I practiced some serious restraint in hopes of sprucing up my collection via travel. And we all know how much shoes weigh. They also take up way too much room in a suitcase. Darn.

I finally finished my article - I act as if it were 15,000 words. Try 800. Whatever. It's hard to focus when I've got so much going on, like whether to watch "Keeping up with the Kardashians" or "Jerseylicious." But really, sometimes that final push is the hardest one to give.

Josey will be coming up to DC about a week after I arrive. Hopefully the sun will be out and we can give our tans a boost since I'm really not planning on being a ghastly pale bride. I'd also like a machine to exist that can tone every muscle in my body in less than 3 weeks. That would just be excellent. There is still lots to do in terms of tying up loose ends before the wedding, but it will be fun to do that in person finally! It's going to be great.

Hmm.. What else? I got another plant. Yep. A Chinese Ornamental hot pepper plantita that has these little multi-colored pepper babies that are purple, orange, red and cream. I hope our cleaning lady doesn't kill it when we're gone. I've already drafted up a "Plant Care" list for her - it's a big job to keep my green friends happy!!

I think that's all. I'm sad Nadal lost in Rome today. Djokovic is amazing, and I love his temper tantrums, but I'm loyal to the Spaniard through and through. Now I'm listening to Jose do sudoku on the iPad while we wait for the next episode of House to download.

So much going on. Dress fitting (!!!), Bachelorette in NYC (!!!), lots of Indian (!!!), lots of crossing off the To-Do's for the wedding planning (thank God), fun hunting for old trinkets on Ebay, sleeping with an electric blanket every night because I'm frozen, watching the days fly by ...

And some very, very exciting developments that - regardless of the outcome - I will be filling you all in on next week.

Tomorrow I'm off to Boston (Liberty Hotel, here I come. Woooohooooo!) but will be back for my last weekend in the USA. Birthday party, bridal fiesta (bridal is a weird word), and hopefully some good last-minute shopping before I head back to Josey and Autumnal Buenos Aires.

How Fast Can You Have Your Bags Packed for Milan?

Although instead of Milan I'm headed to DC! Weeeeeeee!

Just finished a pretty successful packing sesh upstairs. It's humid and rainy today, so I broke a serious sweat, which is just sad. Part of that is due to the fact that our bags are stored under the bed (which is actually bigger than California king), and I always have to lift the frame up to un-stick my gigantic bags. Yikes. As usual, I probably overpacked but given that one day it snows and the next day it's sunny and balmy, I feel like I need to be prepared for all seasons. I think as long as I don't accumulate too much stuff once I'm home (a mission that I know will fail), I'll be fine. Looks like I should take another gander at what I put in the suitcases ...

Being home is always a treat, and I am so excited to see my Bella and to eat Indian to my heart's content. The sad part is leaving Josey and our happy life in Buenos Aires. Happy Hours at Danzón, dinners at Bengal, eating lentils on the couch while watching The Dog Whisperer (clearly my fave show), going to the gym to burn off the wine + caipiroskas ... They're all such fun little parts of my days and weeks that make my life here so happy. The upside to my long absence is that I'm doing it to put the finishing touches on the wedding - getting ready for us to spend the rest of our lives together! Yipee! So that is a good thing. And Josey I'm sure will be enjoying the silence since I chatter his ear off all day, every day (He works out of the house and we share the office -- HELLO distraction!)

So ... what else? Oh, I love how this drama between the US and Argentina is unfolding over the "contraband" that the US Air Force is "attempting to smuggle" into Argentina. Not sure how much of a news item it is back home, but here we're all up in arms over the plane that was detained in Ezeiza for days and has now caused a diplomatic rift between the two countries. Basically the US Air Force was bringing down pre-approved items to be used in training sessions with the police for hostage situations. These items included emergency first-aid kits (which include small vials of morphine), a rifle or two, and GPS thingies that were all obviously meant to be part of exercises. Mind you, the US has paperwork signed by the Argies saying they are OK with what will be brought in. Flash forward to their deciding to say that the US snuck in "drugs, weapons, and spy technology" in what they made out to be large amounts. Yeah, ok. The irony of it all? The Argentine Air Force is about to be in big trouble as details of a huge drug ring are unfolding -- it has been discovered that the thousands of kilograms of cocaine that the Juliá brothers tried to bring into Spain on their private jet were, in fact, loaded at the local Air Force base located in Morón.

BHLDN Bonanza

So Anthropologie's wedding line has officially launched! I love the website (that link will take you directly to the shop) and have already been drooling over the beautiful gowns and dresses. I have found my favorite dress! It's not something I would wear at my own wedding (it lends itself more to a stunning outdoor venue, in a vineyard or perhaps overlooking dramatic and majestic cliffs), but I just thought it was perfection!
